Outside my gate at Newark!
It is our third day here and we finally have internet access in our flat. On Friday we forced ourselves to stay up all day in order to beat jetlag. After dragging my bags up four floors to our flat (which was especially hard after the handles broke off my bag...) and getting local cell phones we met up with my friend Alex Zigrang from Kent who is also here for the semester. She took us to Oxford circus where we had dinner and our first pints at O'Neills.
Liz and I being huge tourists in Russell Square
On Saturday we slept in late and attempted to run a few errands up at Oxford Circus. Unfortunately, those errands were never completed after we discovered Topshop. It is probably the largest, most glorious store in London. We didn't purchase anything, but just browsing took up about 2 hours. Saturday night we went to Picadilly Circus to explore. We ended up at another O'Neills, which was three floors. It was fun, but very crowded, and after a few hours half of us headed home.
Jordan, Elizabeth and I on our first London cab ride!
After waking up around noon (which was acceptable since we didn't really go to bed until 3 am the night before), we went to Covent Gardens to explore and run a few more errands. I finally got a charger for my mac and got my internet to work! Other than that, we didn't get much done. It is impossible to find basics such as hangers, blankets and storage bins in this city.
Covent Gardens, a fun but impractical place to shop
Tomorrow we start classes! We have our first architecture class at 9:30 and orientation at 2:00pm... or 14:00 on London time. I'm excited to start classes, even though it will take away from my exploring time.
