Internet is back!

Our internet has been down since Tuesday morning and is finally, thanks to some wonderful acorn employees, working again and better than ever. Nothing too exciting has taken place since our adventure on Monday to the eye.

On Tuesday we had our Museum Theory and London Novel classes with Professor Coyle. Class was over by two, so we had a lot of time to explore the city a bit. Liz and I FINALLY got the basics we've been searching for. Liz found a department store near Oxford Circus and mapped out how to walk there. The walk was a little over a mile each way, which was easy enough. It did however get more difficult when we tried to make our way through the crowded streets with our shopping bags. We went to John Lewis, which is the first department store I've been in that resembles an American one. We were able to get some towels, storage bins and blankets there. I was also able to get a fantastic pillow for only twenty pounds to replace the lumpy rock I have been sleeping on since we arrived.

After navigating our way home through the crowded streets, we joined up with John to check out a new pub. The pub, called the Rugby Tavern, was lovely. It was set on the corner of two residential streets and was truly a local pub. We were able to grab a table with a leather couch. Since we arrived around 5:30, we beat most of the crowd. The pub was filled up with people ranging from younger students to old business men by 7. We had dinner, which for me consisted of excellent fish and chips and some remarkable onion rings, and then settled in for a few pints before heading home around 9. Yes, we spent 4 hours in the pub. It was that comfortable and enjoyable of a spot. I would definitely return to the Rugby Tavern, but I am still determined to find a pub that is slightly closer. It would be great to find a local filled pub at which to become a regular for my time here. The Rugby Tavern was wonderful, but the 15 minute walk makes it a little to far to be the kind of place to pop by on a regular basis.

Today I had my only class, London Contemporary Theatre, at 3. It was nice to get a chance to sleep in. We have been on the move and walking non-stop for so long. I didn't realize how physically exhausted I was until I woke up this morning with sore legs and shin splints! I consider it a small price to pay for everything we've been doing. Class was wonderful, our professor is so enthusiastic and funny that it would be hard to not enjoy class. Even though I didn't like the play we saw on Monday, talking about it in class was fun, and I am very excited for our next play. We are going to see Frankenstein at the National Theatre on Monday night. That should be a lot of fun!

Tomorrow we have our Novel and Museum courses again. For the Museum course we are having a speaker come to talk about the function of museums within a culture. It should be really interesting, especially since my professor promised it would make the extremely dense reading we had for Tuesday's class clearer.

Unfortunately, I don't have any new pictures to post! I will get more up once there are some worth posting!
